1 Corinthians 11

This week we returned to the same portion of 1 Corinthians 11 that we discussed last week. As a starting point, we got to hear the story of Jacob Smith (see it below), as he shared how Jesus transformed him and his marriage through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Even though this passage of Scripture is difficult and has been mis-taught in the past, Lead Pastor John Reeves felt it was important that we gain full understanding of what male headship looks like. He walked us through the practical implications of male headship for the marriage relationship, but also for the Church at-large. Last week he focused on the ways that ladies are valuable and necessary to the Church. This week he walked the guys through how to take up the mantle of leadership in their homes and in the Church in a way that is worthy of being followed. It all begins with a deep dependence on Jesus.

If you would like to begin a conversation about following Jesus or would like to talk more about how your story and the Gospel connect, we would love to hear from you. If you have questions, please feel free to ask them here.

The Life of Jacob Smith

This week we got a chance to hear from Jacob Smith as he told his story of God’s work in his life and marriage. Jacob struggled early in life to find affirmation and respect. In his struggle he turned to alcohol. After finding success in the worlds’ eyes, Jacob found that he was still missing something and that alcohol was holding him back. He surrendered to Jesus and through the power of the Holy Spirit has seen victory for 14 years. His story reminded us of God’s power when we are willing to rely on Him. Would you like to share your story in the future with our church? Let us know here.
