1 Corinthians 13

We celebrated Mother’s Day by looking at the most poetic portion of Paul’s letter to the Corinthian church – chapter 13. In it, Paul describes the ‘most excellent way’ of life that the Gospel makes possible. A life marked by true love. The most challenging portion of the passage is when Paul describes what true love is –  “patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” (verses 4b-7).

Christian mothers have a unique opportunity and calling to live out these verses – even in the most (seemingly) menial tasks. John challenged all of us to make sure that when we are waning in love, to go to the One who is love – Jesus.

If you would like to begin a conversation about following Jesus or would like to talk more about how your gifts and the local church connect, we would love to hear from you. If you have questions, please feel free to ask them here.
