John 6:22-58

For the next several months we will be walking through the life and teachings of Jesus as told to us by someone who walked with Him, the Apostle John.

This week we started walking through the seven “I Am…” statements that Jesus makes throughout the Gospel of John. Zach Farrar walked us through the first statement: “I am the bread of life.” The folks who were following Jesus had become so enthralled with His displays of power that they missed what (Who) those displays were pointing to – the God of the Universe. Jesus uses this statement to reframe their desire to have physical needs met by painting a picture of a spiritual reality. In so doing, He paints the same picture for us, 2000 years later, and asks us to enter in to the story. Zach challenged us to ask ourselves: what are we feasting on? What are we depending on for our daily sustenance? If it is anything other than the broken body and spilled blood of Jesus, we will find our physical bellies full but our eternal souls empty when we arrive to the banquet with the King.

If you would like to begin a conversation about following Jesus or would like to talk more about how your story and the Gospel connect, we would love to hear from you. If you have questions, please feel free to ask them here.
