Rooted: Week 3
We continued in our series this week as we looked at the beginning of the second chapter of 2 Peter. Peter spent the opening chapter of this letter focusing the church by reminding them of the promises of God and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. In chapter 2, he changes his tone to one of warning. Much like our current era of “fake news”, the early church struggled with false teachers – those who would agree on many points of the Gospel, but in crucial details would lead weak followers astray. The warnings that Peter issued to the early church (and those false teachers) are timely for us today. As followers of Jesus today we must be alert and awake to those false teachers among us and, as a church, we must be willing to defend the truths of the Good News. So, the question for you today is: are there any areas in which you are believing “fake news” over the Good News? Where are you unwilling to make Jesus your Master? We’d love to hear from you. Reach out to us via email and let’s start a conversation.
