Sacred: Week 1
We began our series (and our journey) through the Ten Commandments this week. As we normally do, we took some time to review the context of Scripture up until the time that Moses was given the Law on Mt. Sinai. From Creation through the Exodus, God was preparing and calling out His people to become a kingdom of priests.
The Ten Commandments were given to provide clarity on how the new nation was to live – a set of laws that would make them different from the surrounding nations – to signify that God, the Creator, was different and set apart. He is holy and wants His people to live holy lives.
In the Church today, the Law (the first five books of the Old Testament), hinges on the Ten Commandments and is meant to show us our need for healing. The commandments point directly to God and are meant to bless the way that we live. When the Church understands the commandments and why we need them, we stand a better chance to make an impact on our friends and neighbors and we’ll also be able to worship Jesus and His sacrificial death for our sin better.
Do you have clarity on where you have fallen short? Do you understand the goodness of God to us in His law and His perfect sacrifice? We’d love to help connect you to Jesus and to His people. You can reach out to us via email and let’s start a conversation.
