What is an elder?

This week we looked at the leadership of the local church. At RADIUS Church we are led by a plurality of men called elders. Though the elders act like captains of a sports team (they are given authority to lead in the local church from our “Coach”, Jesus) – they function like servants. As servant leaders, they are tasked with four key roles: Protecting, Feeding, Leading, and Caring for the church. They also have several qualifications in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 that elders are supposed to live out as they lead / serve. As RADIUS continues to grow, we hope that more men would desire to be elders to help us better live out those four roles as we care for this local church.

The basis of leading in the local church is following Jesus. To use John’s analogy from yesterday, that decision is what takes you from being a ‘fan’ to actually being a ‘player’. If you’d like to know more about following Jesus, we’d love to have a conversation with you. Reach out to us via email and let’s talk.
